Play In Steering Wheel

Hi I have a mk1 alhambra driving home to day suddenly had play in steering wheel about 3" either way got home just.

when looking at colum wheel moves by said amount but looking at joint no movement til play used looks like top bit of colum sorry if I sound daft never had anything like this happen before any help or name of part needed would be very gratefully recieved

It might be worth taking the airbag off the steering wheel and checking it hasn't undone itself. Disconnect the battery before trying that though, airbag is held in by a few torx screws in the back of the steering wheel, once you have it out the centre bolt is visible. Be careful when your taking it off as you don't want to pull the wires off when you try it (theres a yellow connector on the end)
