dazza Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 (edited) I need a bit of help. I have a 98 seat alhambra with DJY gearbox (hope its ok to post here) . After a short trip on the motorway all the forward gears are very stiff and reverse in near on impossible to select. Clutch has low biting point. I've replaced the gearbox oil yesterday with no improvements. I'm thinking slave cylinder or the clutch. Any thoughts on this?? While i'm here also the temp gauge never gets above a quarter. I've replaced the coolant temp sensor so my next job will be the thermostat?? Thanks Daz Edited August 15, 2015 by dazza Quote
BrianH Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 You might get some luck with bleeding the clutch/replacing the fluid, but I'd suspect as you say that the slave cylinder is playing up. Best way i've found to work out which bit is the problem is to see if you can select when the engine isn't running - if it goes in ok then the slave cylinder looks like your issue. Noone will mind you have a Alhambra, just bear in mind if its a petrol engine that the engines are different between ford and the vw/seat versions!. Diesels are all the same though. Quote
dazza Posted August 21, 2015 Author Report Posted August 21, 2015 Thanks for getting back to me. Bleeding the clutch made the pedal feel slightly better but gears still get stiff when hot. I can select the gears ok when the engine is off. I'm planning on removing the gearbox and changing the slave cylinder and will inspect the clutch and dmf. Quote
BrianH Posted August 23, 2015 Report Posted August 23, 2015 Sounds like the best plan, Are you sure yours has a DMF? Quote
