dfh101 Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Got a 2000 x facelifted sharan, Due to go for its MOT on saturday morning, The bulb warning light on the dash has been coming on recently so with the MOT in mind went searching. What i found was that there was no bulb in the offside fog light holder(Drivers side fine), Even when putting a working bulb in it would not work as its corroded with a white coating. Also the lens cover for these 2 bulbs has an inch of water in it. Questions : Will it fail an MOT if both fog lights dont work? How do you remove the lens cover? What would cause water to accumulate in this cover? Any help would be appreciated. DFH4NP :D Quote
Guest nimrod Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Will it fail an MOT if both fog lights dont work? No only the drivers side light is required How do you remove the lens cover? you need to remove the rear hatches inner panel in order to gain access to the light panels fixings, to remove the inner hatch IIRC you have to remove the trim panel from around the sides of the rear window as the lower panel passes under it? there are two round blanking plugs over the screws for these parts, with these removed the trim unclips from the hatch, next remove the inner handle in the hatches lower edge, again two screws on my Galaxy aound the edge of the trim panel there are several more screws not sure on your VW but I'm sure you suss it, remove these and pull the panel off the lower edge of the hatch, but not to far as its held in place along the lower egde of the rear screen by some push on clips, gently push the panel up towards the top of the hatch and they should unclip? you can now see the innards of the hatch and the nuts holding the rear light panel in place? undo these and lift it off What would cause water to accumulate in this cover? its cracked, a build up of condensation or the water is finding its way through into it via the number plate fixng holes if it has any? plate could be stuck on? 9 Quote
