Guest blu Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Why is that ford dealers are telling me that my 2000 (x) reg galaxy is a 115bhp when all the service filters on the car are for a 110bhp car?. I spoke to ford and they assured me that it was a 115bhp but when they inspected the engine they found it to be a 110bhp engine. The car is insured for 115bhp which cost an extra Quote
Guest nimrod Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 I would imagine that all the service filters are the same for the 90, 110, 115 and 130 bhp models? how did the garage find out yours is 110 model? by the engine code or by translating the vin plate? 13 Quote
GaryM Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 I'm not sure about the engine specifics here but 2000 was the cross over from old to new shape and I found that I had front brake calipers and pads from the older model fit to my car even though I should of had the newer ones. Using up the bits on the production run I guess. Quote
Tigger Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 How long have you had the car. CD Brannell Leicester tried to sell me a 115 when I had paid for a 130! I got my money back and went for what I wanted! Quote
Guest nimrod Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 If you read the section in the TIS gary on the introduction of the 2000.75 Galaxy its reads that only the 2.8 V6 got the larger disc's and calipers due to the power increase of the 24V engine, but it appears that went by the way and they fitted them across the range in some cases! as you say 2000 was the change over year so who knows what was fitted to what in the factory as the parts bins were emptied! 12 Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 115PS engine came with the facelifted Galaxy although the "old" 90 PS engine is still an option on lower trim levels. As to air filters - yes there are at least 3 different sizes - I speak from experience as I'm still waiting for the correct size one to turn up to complete the service I had on my Gal last week-end! So far 2 different sized ones have turned up and they are both wrong! Good thing is that there seems to be at least one "technician" at the garage (Nationwide autocentre) who knows what he is talking about - was there when he gave their supplier merry hell about sending in the wrong filter again! Guest Nik Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 MKI - 90psMKI - 110ps MKII - 90ps but a different one (higher torque)MKII - 115psMKII - 130ps No other combinations possible! Quote
Guest blu Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 Thanks everyone for the info. And i thought i was the only one!. Bramhall quicks wrexham were the ones who eventually sorted out the mystery bhp engine by simply reading off a code on the vin plate and checking it on their computer system, nothing technical there it was in fact the parts man who sorted it (no offence to stores men they do an excellent job GROVEL!! GROVEL!!. Tigger sounds like you and me have the same problem with bhp. I thought all the filters would have been the same but the differance seems to be with the fitment.Eg oil filters, canister type (screw on) for my 110 and replcement element type (bolt through) for 115/130, and that's just one part!!. Anyway here's looking forward to many more services, wish me luck and i wish you look. Quote
