Dear All,

Many thanks in advance to all members who may be able to help me.

I have a 2009 Galaxy, 1.8 TDCi, 100PS. Mileage: 108000.

The engine failed whilst driving at approx 25mph with an almighty thump.

The lower belt slipped causing the pistons to smash the valves, broke the camshaft, holes in 2 pistons etc etc.

Been looking for a replacement engine but cant find one with a matching code.

I have been told that I have a FFBA engine.

What do I do? Any advice?

Can I change the engine to one of a different code?

Can I change to a 125PS engine?

Any advice please.

Hi

I have a 2008 mk3 1.8tdci 125ps and had same problem back in April. 89606 miles on clock similar speed to yours and bang.

Camshaft in 3 pieces bent valves and holes in pistons.

So many horror stories about replacement engines I asked the mechanic I always use for advice and I decided to get him

to rebuild my engine with a repacement head new pistons and shells.

Excellent job but did take 6 weeks, cost was just short of £2000.

If you have a mechanic you have faith in talk it over.

Best of luck

A Ford mechanic has told me that this engine is made by the CPR (Citroen, Peugeot, Renault) group so that may be another thing to check for a replacement maybe.

Same has happened to me :-( 2009 1.8 with 103000 miles. Had major service done, everything changed then about a thousand miles later on holiday in France I heard what sounded like big end bearings going then it seized, con rod snapped, hole in engine, engine is knackered. I have it in my garage and I'm about to attempt to remove it myself then try to find another engine.
