mrben Posted May 5, 2015 Report Posted May 5, 2015 diesel mk11 v-reg. Any info on anything that might catch me out would be much appreciated, special tools etc. Thanks. Quote
BrianH Posted May 5, 2015 Report Posted May 5, 2015 When I did mine we found an engine hoist was needed though this was on a mk1 petrol version as there just wasn't any way of supporting the engine otherwise. It was easier none the less than the mk2 mondeo i had to replace one on was. Quote
swc7 Posted May 7, 2015 Report Posted May 7, 2015 if its the vw engine as mine is the gearbox is very heavy and needs anticlockwise to release it from the bracket at the back. i have replaced my clutch twice since july 2014,,, single flywheel conversion kit, 1st clutch was a recon unit and only lasted 1800 miles 4 months... euro parts didnt inform me it was a recon unit and i had a job trying to get it replaced, i opted for a better one, valeo is the make £80 more but its starting to go the same way at just over 2000 miles. takes ages to strip out the battery tray etc to gain access to all the bolts and cables on the box, drain out the oil from the box too, it makes it lighter to drop down and refit. clutch hydraulics unplug at the bleed valve on thr front of the box. i used 2 engine supports, 1 under the engine and the other under the gearbox to help lower and replace. will take about 3 to 4 hours. xavier Posted May 7, 2015 Report Posted May 7, 2015 Awesome, it takes me 3 - 4 hours to remove and re-fit the undertray! Quote
mrben Posted May 8, 2015 Author Report Posted May 8, 2015 ok thanks swc7, is your galaxy a mk2?Thanks. Quote
SilverBeast Posted May 8, 2015 Report Posted May 8, 2015 His sig says its a 2003 so that makes it a MK2. His profile also says MK2 . Quote
swc7 Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 i don't have an undertray fitted to mine xavier, its a nightmare trying to get one but i will get one eventually, along with all the other things missing on it lol. i just done the brushes in the secondary pump but i need to drop the heater and check the glowplug, last week i did the timing belt, water pump, roller, tensioner, thermostat, but it still takes a while for it to heat up. power steering is noisy until i take the revs up a tiny bit so looks like the pump is going. just the usual little problems like any other car. the forum is a great source of info and help.
