Car Cutting Out

Hi, I recently got a 2nd hand Ford Galaxy 2008 TDCi in November last year, with 79,000 miles on it which is now 84,000 miles. A couple of days ago the car was cutting out, and stops, then later it was going completely fine, maybe too hot, as when I checked the coolant level, its very low. But even when I top it up, soon after it is again very low. We are just waiting for it to be seen again by the mechanic.

Has anyone else ever had these problems with a car before?

The water is obviously going somewhere, given that you don't mention it leaking any water that you can see i wonder if its a sign the head gasket has failed. You might get better luck in the mk3 area though as yours is a mk3 not a mk2. Try posting under having problems there if your still having problems with it, this section of the forum doesn't get many visitors unfortunately.
