Hello all. Just wondering if anyone could inform me if its a common thing for the plastic part that pops into the fuel filter to wear out?

Reason i ask is that when putting it in place on the fuel filter, there is hardly any resistance when pushing it down over the ring seal

thats on the actual filter, obviously then putting the pin through to keep it in place.

I'm getting an intermittent fault at high revs (losing power), and i'm wonder if air could be getting in around said plastic part...

Thanks for looking!

it wouldn't wear out?  but did you ever replace the fuel filter and it comes with new 0-rings in the box?

try replacing them .

Hi, thanks. Nope no o ring in the box, the seal on the fuel filter is already on the filter. The plastic connector piece just pushes down over it....but i does 'feel' a bit slack. Thanks anyway.

Heres a question i can answer as this happened to mine when we had the TDI .    for a long time when the car was warm or had to be started a few times on the trot,  the first time when cold it would fire instantly,    after that  it was an utter sod    cranking and cranking for ages  .  i thought it was something i had to live with  but then one day i changed the fuel filter and broke the original t piece.  it was a slackish fit   like you describe.,   i got a new one from ebay and it was extremely tight to fit and i thought i was going to break it with th enforce i had to push it down with,    got it on and from that day the car started instantly every time. no more cranking.  i couldn't believe that such a small simple thing caused the problems i had with it.,

change it and in sure you will cure it.
