jasper Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 i have recently noticed that intermitently there is a hissing noise coming from the brake peadl area after applying the brake. After repeat application of the brake it disappears for days/weeks. Any body know what it could be, do i need to get it fixed and whats involved? Quote
ridway Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Is it a constant, continuous hiss or just a brief hiss?. There can be a hiss associated with both the brake servo and / or the cruise control. A brief noise does not necessarily mean that there is a problem but if it is a long hiss then that suggests you may be loosing the vacuum. I have driven both the petrol and diesel variants and the the short his is noticable on both; more so the petrol version. Maybe because its quieter at low speeds. As brakes are involved I would checkit out with a main dealer or specialist just for reassurance if nothing else. Rich Quote
Guest emjay Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 I also get this symptom, not too worried but inquisitive to know the cause and possible long term problems? Quote
Biggles Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 My gal has recently started hissing when you release the brake pedal. Did you get it checked out? What was the outcome ? Quote
jasper Posted February 25, 2005 Author Report Posted February 25, 2005 The noise disappeared and has not returned so another just one of those things I hope. Quote
