Russats Posted April 9, 2015 Report Posted April 9, 2015 I've notice small dots of oil on the drive about the size of a 10 pence coin. I've got a feeling it's only leaking when it's running. I'll attach some pics and see what you think. There is also oil around the head gasket area on the front of the engine also on the EGR valve area. Quote
Russats Posted June 13, 2015 Author Report Posted June 13, 2015 Thought I'd bump this back up to see if anyone had any ideas. I suspect it's the rear of the Turbo or one of it's pipes? Any ideas would be great, thanks Quote
GreenSharanTdi Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 Mine had a very similar leak and it was cam cover (rocker) gasket. All cured now Quote
Witchmaster Posted June 23, 2015 Report Posted June 23, 2015 Most older diesels weep a bit of oil from somewhere, I the old days the best way to find out where from was to steam clean the engine and then run it for a while and it was possible to see where oil was leaking from. These day this should be done with extreme caution as there are now so many sensors around the engine and if water gets into any of these you could end up with more problems than just losing a bit of oil. As mentioned above one possibility is the rocker cover gasket which is a very easy fix. Sometimes the steel rocker covers can warp very slightly too, even when bolted tight but if you know where they are leaking a gentle tap with a hammer and screwdriver in the leaky area can fix this. Russats Posted June 28, 2015 Author Report Posted June 28, 2015 Well it all started since I replaced the injector loom which is under the camcorder. Didn't replace the gasket either Quote
BrianH Posted June 28, 2015 Report Posted June 28, 2015 Well it all started since I replaced the injector loom which is under the camcorder. Didn't replace the gasket either Cheers guys I've rarely got away with reusing the rocker cover gasket, and when i have its been a fairly new one thats been reused. Yours is probably quite hard and disturbing its been enough to make it fail to seal properly. Sounds like you now know whats the issue though. Quote
