dean willcox Posted August 28, 2014 Report Posted August 28, 2014 Hi I have a 2003 mk 2 2.3 petrol manual with a starting problem - key in ignition everything lights up on dash but engine will not turn over ( dead ) but if i bridge battery to starter while ignition is switched on will start ? is this relay 30 or something different any suggestions gratefully received regards dean Quote
BrianH Posted August 28, 2014 Report Posted August 28, 2014 Could be the starter solenoid depending what your bridging to. Usually relay 30 causes it to crank but fail to start. Look at the led on the drivers door - if its flashing rapldly its usually indicaties a immobiliser issue which is suggesting relay 30. It may also be worth looking if the fusebox has started melting being a mk2 - theres info on other posts on here about that down to a bad crimp on a cable. Quote
