Hi Guys

Can any one throw any suggestions my way on a problem with my Mk3 2008 Ghia 2l tdci please?

Recently the drivers door switch cluster for activating all windows, central locking and powered door mirrors has stopped working, so I have no control of any windows, mirrors or central locking on any side from the drivers door switches. However, the electric windows do work on the other three doors when using each doors own single window switch. Also, operating central locking either by key fob or by locking the drivers door with the key in the door only locks the boot and passenger side doors, not the drivers side front or rear. Also operating the locks from inside the car from the drivers door does not work.

I've run OBD diagnostics and the body control module/GEM or whatever you call it reports a loss of communication between the Body Control Module and door contol Modula A, which I am assuming is the modue that I have found in the drivers door.

To try and narrow down the problem, I obtained from a certain online auction site a spare door module A and a spare Body Control Module - all modules had exactly the same part numbers, Software and hardware numbers, so I thought I could try swapping these out to see if I could rectify the problem or at least narrow it down a little to a specific module.

No matter which permutations I tried by swapping out the modules, I could not get the windows/locking/switches working. Although I appreciate the spare Body Control Module would require reporgramming to match my car, I was thinking along the lines that the basic functionality such as the electric windows would work and would be common to the previous car in which this module was installed. Infact the other windows did work with their own independent switches just like before. So in summary, after swaping out modules etc, even with the new ones in place the sympthoms are exactly the same.

So my conclusion is that it must be trouble with the wiring loom. I have checked out the continuity of as many of the wires as I can trace between the door and the body control module, but I'm now stuck as I don't have a wiring diagram. I have even had the multiway connector apart where the cables go thru the door jam as this could be a week point but all is in order there.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of a wiring diagram for the BCM and other modules??? I have been trying for weeks to no avail. Even my local main dealer drew a blank.  Also a local garage friend of mine had knows a friendly person at Ford Technical and they could not see that any wiring diagram was avaiable.

How can this be so?? do you think it's possible that I will not be ablw to get hold of one? Surely main dealers must have access to such a diagram?

My problem is, I dont fancy handing this probem over to a main dealer or local garage who will simply swap out the modues for new ones and when that doesnt work will ultimately probably replace the wiring loom as I could soon be facing a bill of

well it does look like the mk3/smax has inherited the same problems as the mk1 and mk2,so 1st port of call would be to chck for broken wires in the door gaitor.
