Hi

Air con not working been regassed has definitely got dual a/c filled to 1050,no leaks, no faults on vag com. Compressor is turning, feels free can turn by hand, had a mate who's checked wiring and found there's only 2.8 volts at the compressor connector which is intermittent allowing 2.8 volts every 3 to 5 seconds, I think it should be around 12volts??? Any ideas why this is happening?? It's a 54 plate 1.9tdi (130) thanks

Is the compressor actually running/ engaging? Probably not if you've only got 2.8V at the compressor clutch connector! Could be a bad contact/ resistance somewhere in the wiring or an internal fault in the climate control panel or maybe a dodgy relay. If it was pressure switch related I wouldn't expect a 'partial' voltage, I'd expect either a full 12V to the compressor or nothing at all, though somebody may correct me here. Can you make the clutch engage if you manually apply 12V to the compressor lead terminals? Edited by insanitybeard

No compressor not working, not climate control unit have tried another unit with matching serial numbers and didn't make a difference.

Had a new pressure switch, tested the connection there and that's OK.

If it's a relay any ideas which one?

I noticed prior to not working the air con was very intermittent seemed to get more intermittent the warmer the day? The green wire at the compressor connector which is the one carrying the feed goes back to the fan?? Module

Fan works, turns on and off with air con when car first started(cold) but seems to stay on when up to temperature and never stops not sure if it should do that as other cars I have owned turn on and off as the water temperature raises and falls. looking at some other topics on the forums the aircon is linked to cooling fans.

Any way of checking the fan module and where is it on the car?

Checked fans they work as they should, checked wiring from compressor back to a relay on the 2nd level of relays in the cab(ford told me there wasn't a relay on that circuit) (relay 454), could this relay reduce the voltage to the compressor, is there any way of telling if it's faulty or is it a case of buy a new one and try it, Edited by philm32

Thanks for the offer, but I'm sure it's down to electrics.

If it's not and the compressor is knackered I'll definitely take you up on the offer.

I'm in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire

Do you still have this? Would it fit a 130bhp engine?
