Pepper Red Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 Hi Guys The electric mirror on the passenger side only goes up and out it wont go in or downits been so since I've had the car over two years now and thought it was about time I tried to sort itAlso the passenger mirror doesn't demist since I've had the Galaxy but the drivers side is fine and also demists and so does the rear windowI have changed the mirror for a new one and changed the motor for a second hand on but the faults are still presentthe wiring seems fine and original and the connections clean, I am not sure if it's the switches as we are dealing with two separate circuits I would think it unlikely they are both faulty.? Any help or ideas would be greatly welcome Thanks Quote
gregers Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 i would take a very close look at the wiring. Quote
Pepper Red Posted July 20, 2014 Author Report Posted July 20, 2014 ThanksSo would this would mean taking off the door card and having a look for frayed or broken wires.? Quote
SilverBeast Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 (edited) Yes, but it's more likely to be in the rubber gaitor between the body and the door as this is where the stress and bending happens. It could be in the drivers door gaitor too or even the hatch as failures in the wiring can cause shorts and all sorts of weird things can happen. I'd check passenger door gaitor first then the one in the drivers door if I were you. It could still be the switch and it would be easiest to check that if you have access to a spare to substitute (scrapyard?) Edited July 20, 2014 by SilverBeast Quote
Pepper Red Posted July 21, 2014 Author Report Posted July 21, 2014 Hi and thanks for the advice Quote
BrianH Posted July 21, 2014 Report Posted July 21, 2014 The rear hatch wiring can cause all sorts of wierdness - I've recently finished repairing mine to discover its appears to have been the cause of problems with the radio amongst other things. Out of all the wires there there were only 2 intact ones in mine, so it made me wonder how anything still worked on the boot. Start with the passenger one though, if you get to the point of getting the door cards off be prepared to replace some of the yellow clips that hold them on as they break quite easily (its only held by a screw near the handle, clips and the top edge resting ontop of the door) Quote

SilverBeast Posted July 23, 2014 Report Posted July 23, 2014 stupid boy pike. :38: That emoticon always reminds me of the guy at work who put his tounge on one of our temperature plates when it was set to -40C! He had to wait till we had got it to warm up before he could take it off again. Quote
gregers Posted July 23, 2014 Report Posted July 23, 2014 :16: hope he gets reminded frequently. Quote
SilverBeast Posted July 24, 2014 Report Posted July 24, 2014 We try to let new starters know too. Obviously I believe it should be part of the health and safety briefing! Unfortunately we aren't allowed phones in the labs so I don't believe there are any pictures. Haven't been called a lad in a while. I'm 50 this year! Quote
