seanwhu Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 Hi My mk11 2.3 ghia 2001 alarm keeps going off and there is no pattern to it. Both footwells are bone trying as are under the front seats. There are no other electrical gremlins and all works well. Any clues or help where to start appreciated. Thanks Quote
tezerez Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 Easiest thing to try is to check for spiders and webs in or on the sound sensors Then it is probably worth checking the wiring in the doors and tailgate. Quote
SilverBeast Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 Mine has done it occasionally, especially in hot weather. Not been a big enough problem for me to try and track it down though. If it gets too annoying you can disable it by using the key to lock it. NOTE: You have ti turn the key to the lock position twice within a short space of time in order to disable the alarm. Quote
chromedome Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 One favourite is the bonnet switch. When you drive the bonnet moves up and down slightly causing excessive wear on the switch. Quote
Russats Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 My Alhambra Used to do this, only quick solution was to not dead lock it. Just press key fob once Quote
BrianH Posted July 21, 2014 Report Posted July 21, 2014 One favourite is the bonnet switch. When you drive the bonnet moves up and down slightly causing excessive wear on the switch. I had this on my other car - used to be particually bad as the temperature cooled off at night (1am in the morning espically). It also used to do it when taken into the carwash. I found the easiest way to stop it was to just disconnect the switch as that stopped the alarm being set until i found a replacement which did fix it.(iId disconnected the sounder initally but this didn't stop the indicators flashing which became annoying!)
