marinabrid Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 Hi alljust swopped and got a mk 2 with remote locking on the key fob, one fob work fine the other didn't light up. i put new batteries in and the red light now works but it doesn't unlock the car. reading the link on this can someone clarify, will the fob with the new batts need recoding and in doing that will i need to recode the currently working key ?thanks Quote
marinabrid Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) jut found a page in the handbook it mentions synchronising the key if its been pressed out of range of the car, do i need to sync or recode the key have with the new battery as the methods of doing one or th either are different. insanitybeard Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) Yes, if only one remote fob is working you will need to reprogramme both of them. Assuming your Galaxy has the correct owners manual, the procedure is on page 82 (the later handbook supplied with the 2004 on facelift model). It's the section headed 'key coding', I don't understand what you mean about different methods for syncing or recoding though, they are one and the same, unless you are talking about coding keys for the PATS system which is something different and not related to the remote locking. marinabrid Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 its the face lifted 2004 model the handbook on mine is page108 the method there is put key in turn 3 times remove key remove key point at car and press lock button then at same time press unlock all within 20 secs, then on page112 is recoding where you put key in ignition turn to pos 2 then repeat with other key don't know which method to use as don't want to end up with no working key !!! insanitybeard Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 The remote fob programming procedure is the one that requires you to cycle the key in the drivers door lock. The PATS (immobiliser) programming procedure is the one that requires you to cycle the ignition on and off with the key in the ignition barrel. Quote
marinabrid Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) right well the car starts with both keys so i presume i need the remote fob programming where i turn the key in the door lock. in the handbook ford call this synchronising Edited July 2, 2014 by marinabrid Quote
marinabrid Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 can't work this one out, have turned the key 3 times to the left pressed the lock button and held it down while pressing unlock 3 times doesn't seem to make any difference the key fob still won't open car , any ideas ? Quote
marinabrid Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 sorted, the handbook says turn key to the left. on google its to the right, this then works. i did the fob that had the new batts and it worked the can't understand why the other fob didn't ! very odd, then i google again, you have to reprogram any other fobs you have for the car within 15 seconds. BrianH Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 Theres a few instances where the owners manual doesn't match the car and it sounds like you have one of the affected ones. You may find the fusebox and manual don't tally up as well. you sorted it thats the main thing! Quote
