marinabrid Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Hi allHave just swopped got a mk2 after many years of a mk 1 now for sale on here, this one has the factory sat nav unit but i can't find the cd changer its not in the compartment behind the rear seat that i thought it would be theres no wires in there either, where the devil is it located ? its a 2004 model with the slight facelift thanks all Quote
insanitybeard Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Usually, unless it's got the 6006 in dash changer it's in the rearmost storage compartment/ glovebox (by the third row of seats on the offside). Quote
marinabrid Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 nothing there ! i did some research on web and found a thread that said some models that have the in car dvd for the rear passengers a multimedia set don't have a cd changer fitted. wonder if someone could verify this. seems very odd not to fit a cd changer to a top of the range car. insanitybeard Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) I know that the later models that were DVD player equipped with the front headrest screens were fitted with a 6006 model in dash CD changer, but obviously with sat-nav, there's no room for this! So has yours got sat-nav and a DVD player, or just sat-nav? According to my Galaxy brochure the Blaupunkt factory fit sat-nav should have been equipped with the 6 disc changer in the rear glovebox, is it possible your Galaxy wasn't factory fitted with sat-nav and somebody has added it subsequently without fitting the changer? marinabrid Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) yes it has factory fit blaupunkt sat nav with the ford booklet telling how to work it and the dvd screens in the headrests and the dvd control unit in the rear console but there is no cd changer in the boot, i found a wiring loom with a square multi plug sitting there under under the compartment. either it wasn't fitted as the loom is tie wrapped down or someone has had it away with the changer. insanitybeard Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 At least that should make it easy to fit one if you want, ebay usually has a few selling, the one I linked is actually new old stock, the only snag is it doesn't have the mounting brackets supplied with it. Also, if you were going to buy, make sure the connector in the vehicle is the right fit! Quote
marinabrid Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 thanks you been a great help, we run a BB in Bridlington if ever you fancy a few days by the sea discount for members ! the cd link worked, i found another on there from an 2001 same model that has the same square 12 pin fitting and it has two mounting arms which i presume attach to the 2 screws that are fitted in the top of the storage box Quote
insanitybeard Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 I'll bear it in mind, thanks! Yes, the two metal mounting brackets attach to the sides of the unit and secure to the rear glovebox casing by means of the two screws, one in each bracket. Quote
