niall1001 Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 hi all, last year I purchased a mk2 2.3 2001 galaxy and I noticed a couple of months ago the air-con pump pulley was missing,i want to replace the pump but I cant find the part number so I can get a second hand 1!!!could any1 tell me if one from a tdi will fit as im sure its from vag/ae parts bin but im not sure..... many thanks Quote
insanitybeard Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) No, the 2.3 petrol and 1.9 TDI air con compressors are NOT the same, The TDI compressor is a VW sourced unit (like the engine) whilst the 2.3 petrol is a Ford engine with a Ford sourced compressor, they are not interchangeable. If the pulley is missing, have they fitted a shorter belt to bypass it whilst still driving the power steering pump, water pump, alternator etc? Ebay usually turns up a few, this one should be correct, worth checking the engineering number off of your old unit though. Edited June 30, 2014 by insanitybeard Quote
niall1001 Posted June 30, 2014 Author Report Posted June 30, 2014 yh,shorter belt fiited, was askin as the alternator is a vw unit Quote
moog999 Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Got to ask yourself why the pump was removed though. Be prepared for putting a replacement on, gassing it up and it failing somewhere else. Expect the worst, hope for the best! Quote
