DaveJH Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 I have a 55 plate Galaxy Ghia, 150bhp, and need to identify the type of the original equipment alarm system. eg Ford 40, oor 10T, or 20T, or 40T. or Ford 100, 200, or 300 etc. The alarm system is fully functioning, I just need to identify the type. Alternatively, any indication/proof that the origianl alarm was Thatcham Cat 1 (w.r.t to the Thatcham Cat 1 that applied at the time of manufacture as these alarms were generally delisted in 2007) would be useful. Any help would be much appreciated. Regards DaveJH Quote
gregers Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 go to www.fordetis.com,then type in your reg no and on the options list it should be able to tell you what alarm is fitted to your car. Quote
xavier Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 It seems to have moved to here : http://www.etis.ford.com/ Quote
DaveJH Posted May 29, 2014 Author Report Posted May 29, 2014 Gregers, Xavier Following your advice I followed the link to "etis" and under the vehicle details it included "with anti theft alarm fitted". I could not find further details - are these only available to etis subscribers ? (Subscription is 50 euro) Regards DaveJH Quote
insanitybeard Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 It may require accessing the alarm module, the manufacturers plate may well state the model type, alternatively interrogation with VAG-com might bring up the specs of the module. Failing that, there's a chance if you went into Ford parts and got them to look up the applicable module for your car it MAY say in the description which model it is. Unfortunately I cannot tell you where the module is physically located on the MK2 Galaxy. Quote
gregers Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 dave you should be able to see a lot more info, when i checked mine it came up with thatchem 1 alarm. on the right hand side of the page where all your details are listed, you should see under neath it all highlighted in blue'there are more features etc click to expand' click on it and then scroll down the list. DaveJH Posted May 30, 2014 Author Report Posted May 30, 2014 Greeters Thanks for your reply, for my Galaxy it is in the expanded list of minor features that it simply says ' with anti theft alarm fitted' and I can't dig deeper ( assuming that etis members get more info) . I will follow insanitybeard's suggestion and see if my simple VAG-COM will reveal anything ( I normally it only use if for error codes) and I shall have a look in the fuse panel area for any id's if that is where the alarm module is hidden.
