Guest karimata Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Got a Galaxy that has occasional flat battery.Alternator appears ok, no generator light coming on when driving. Most journeys are at least 15 miles. Before I get a new battery- I just want to check that there isn't a problem with the power draining away somewhere where it shouldn't be, faulty wiring etc Does anyone know what current drain is normal on a 'turned off' vehicle, no doors open, lights, radio etc switched off? I would imagine the only drain would be the remote central locking system and this would be a few mA. Any help appreciated Quote
Guest Andyjflet Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 This seems to be a common problem on some older style Galaxy's, have you checked the rear hatch is closing properly, look to see if you can see the boot compartment lights on when its shut, some adjustment will cure this. Other than that I would suggest any aftermarket alarm, stereo, dvd, phone charger etc can cause havoc Quote
seatkid Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 IIRC I measured about 15mA. Your battery should be good for at least several weeks. Check battery terminal voltage - with engine running you should have between 14 and 15 volts. With engine off, a fully charged battery (stood for half an hour) should be greater than 13.2v. Make sure the battery is topped up - in my experience, this is never checked at a service. Quote
