Ok, I am new on here and really just reaching out to prevent a costly garage visit. I have a T Reg Ford Galaxy that is refusing to start. I put the key in, I am then greeted with several beeps from the dash, all normal lights come on but that is all. There is literally no spark etc, complete silence, I literally have no idea what this could be and am contemplating changing the dreaded relay 30, however, not sure if this is the right way to go. Any amount of help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I also forgot to mention that after a couple of attempts the interior light starts to flash intermittently and makes a sound that is just like the indicator is on!????! Very strange!

Start with volt meter across battery, should be 12v, if so tighten all connections on battery, check earth connections and tightness of connections on starter.

If in doubt call in AA LOL

Is it a petrol or diesel model? If you are hearing a ticking sound like you hear whilst indicating and the interior light is going on off in time with the ticking that sounds very much like a relay powering up and down in which case it could be the old relay 30 problem (if it's a petrol), though it'll need somebody else to confirm if relay 30 also applies to a mk1 Galaxy, I think it does.

Yeah tested the battery and even tried jump starting it - no joy. Can't thank you enough for all helping out - wish i had come on here a week ago when the problem started!

If it's not relay 30 check your wires/connections, I was down Eastbourne way when my gal was doing the same as yours, I didn't have a single spanner with me so had to call out the AA man, he found a connection that had gone rusty/loose, a quick tighten and I was away.

Just wanted to thank you all as when I, eventually, got hold of the relay 30 switch, it was definitely that! Replaced it and the car started straight away with no issues at all. Fantastic help from a fantastic site,
