Lark yelseb Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 Help Please chaps I have a Mk2 Galaxy 2.3 petrol X reg Parking sensors not working. Upon engaging reverse we get one beep and then the sensor light just flashes. How do i go about diagnosing the problem?? Quote
chrislloydie Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 Does your car have front and rear sensors? Do you have vcds lite? That'll tell you exactly which sensor is faulty. If not, you can listen carefully to each sensor and hear a very quiet ticking. Any that aren't ticking are faulty. Just one faulty sensor will stop the whole system working. Quote
chrislloydie Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 Brand new sensors on ebay for Quote
chromedome Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 Check under the front passenger seat for water. Quote
Lark yelseb Posted January 21, 2014 Author Report Posted January 21, 2014 great will have a look under the seat. i do have front and rear sensors. i will try and check the sensors. are they easy to replace if they need it? Quote
chrislloydie Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 Very easy, especially the rear ones which can be accessed by lying under the rear of the car. They unclipped from bumper then unplug electrical connector. If you find a faulty one, check along the wiring for breaks. Or swap sensors over like I said earlier to rule out broken wiring. Quote
Lark yelseb Posted January 22, 2014 Author Report Posted January 22, 2014 identified one sensor that is not working.and it is on the rear so not so bad i guess.does the sensor have to be re wired all the way back to the module under the passenger seat? Quote
insanitybeard Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 No, each sensor has a multiplug connector so the sensor is completely independent of any wiring. Quote
mrben Posted May 16, 2016 Report Posted May 16, 2016 Did you ever sort this? I have the same problem... Quote
Ben g mon Posted June 5, 2016 Report Posted June 5, 2016 Note, back parking sensors should chime from the rear when reverse is engaged (found behind left hand slatted grill, mine was unplugged)Front parking sensors chime when starting up and pitch is totally different. ECU for parking sensors is under the passenger seat, if it's wet the rear washer pipe has leaked as its joined inside the car at the top left area of footwell under carpet. (easy fix listed on here) Vag comets is s fiddle to use for this once the fault is cleared Quote
