ironballs Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Hi Everyone, I'm hoping you can help me. My 1,9 Diesel 2000 Galaxy is a non starter. A few days ago, my girlfriend took the key fob out of her pocket; it broke in her hand and she found that she could not start the Galaxy. She tried the transponderless key dozens of times. Using these forums, it turned out that when the keyfob broke, the transponder chip dropped out. Luckily we found the chip and I've put it back in the fob, but the car will still not start. I think that the immobiliser and the transponder chip need resynchronising. Is this correct? Any ideas would be helpful Thanks Garry Quote
gregers Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 well the pats doesnt, unless its broken but i find that hard to believe. Quote
ironballs Posted January 14, 2014 Author Report Posted January 14, 2014 Gregers, I have to agree, the only thing to have happened was the transponder chip went "missing" out of the key fob for a few days. Nothing else has changed. I had a thought that since we used the key many times, the PATS may be out of sync with the transponder chip. As far as i know, the PATS transmits a rolling code to the transponder. The other thought I had, which is pure theory, is if the car sees many key turns without a transponder, it might think the car is trying to be broken into and immobilise itself. Do you have idea how to fix the problem? Any clues will be much appriciated Thanks Quote
gregers Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 yeah, you got another key? if not then hopefully you belong to a breakdown service give them a call, and see what they say on the subject when they come out. Quote
