Hi I need some help from all you Galaxy owners and techies out there... Am planning to tow a horse trailer (ifor williams HB 505 ) with one horse approx 500kg and am thinking of a Galaxy ... Had a ride in one a couple of weeks ago and loved the visibility and practicality of it . Currently have a VW passat tdi sport but don't really want to tow in that as the visibility is not good and as I will be a towing newbie I need all the help I can get . Also the passat has an electric button for a handbrake which was faulty for a while and I have lost confidence in it . So been trying to get my head round MAM and towing capacity and it's Sooo complicated . Can anyone put it in simple terms and suggest to me which models of Galaxy I should be looking at ? Any help much appreciated .... Ps trailer weighs about 950 kg

personally owning a 2.3 id say no. because we went on holiday with 5 kids loaded up and a roofbox and it struggled with hills. maybe a 1.9tdi would have more guts.

I'd say a Tdi would be fine, also alot of people prefer automatics for towing although I prefer a manual. I once towed a twin axle ifor williams with a mini on the back with a 1l petrol Suzuki SJ hairdressers jeep.....it was slow up the hills but it did a couple of longish runs no probs. Just make sure whatever you buy has had a recent cambelt, or get one done before towing.

I'd say it was safer to tow a Galaxy and trailer with a horse.....
