Peter_HMR Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Have an issue with my clutch which seems to be reasonable common but I can't find a solution for. Replaced the flywheel, clutch and slave cyclinder. Put everything back and bled the clutch and am having an intermittent problem where somethings the clutch will not fully dissengage so I cannot get the car out of gear and the clutch is grabbing slightly. Also when driving the pedal will pulse under acceleration/deacceleration. Used all orignal quailalty parts Sachs/Luk everything done properly lined up and torqued correctly. Replaced the master cyclinder also just in case that was the problem and it hasn't fixed it. Anybody have any ideas. Quote
Bigjeeze Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 What sort of mileage do you have? It could be worn thrust washers allowing the crankshaft to move - that might explain the pulsing you describe. Of course it may also be due to sticky splines on the input shaft. Quote
Peter_HMR Posted January 11, 2014 Author Report Posted January 11, 2014 So I found my problem. After checking the hydraulic system thoroughly, replacing the master cylinder, vacuum bleeding, checking movement in the crankshaft etc. I ripped the car and took the gearbox off. I was a little surprised by what I found however it explains all the symptoms I was having. The brand new flywheel which had done little to no mileage maybe 3-4 max had a large amount of lateral play (in and out). This explains the clutch sticking as the flywheel is marked on the edge of the friction disc and explains the pulsing of the pedal. The unit is Sachs and bought from a reputable supplier so I will return it promptly and see what they say. I am surprised to have an expensive part like this from an OEM supplier be this bad. Quote
