javedsaleem Posted December 29, 2013 Report Posted December 29, 2013 My Galaxy goes into limp mode sometimes - mainly on motorway I get the error code - Charge Pressure Control: Positive Deviation - http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/17965/P1557/005463 My Mechanic has suggested I need to get my turbo reconditioned as it - he suggested Midlan Turbos Its a Garrett Turbo - GT1749V - Garrett say it cannot be reconditioned, but then their own Distributor offers this service !!! I need help on:- a) whether I should get it reconditioned or not b) would a new turbo not be better than re-conditioning the existing one c) If I do get it re-conditioned, can anyone suggest any good company d) can anyone suggest whether it can be any other problem Thanks Quote
bigdave982 Posted December 29, 2013 Report Posted December 29, 2013 Id suggest you search on here for limp mode probs/cures before shelling out on turbo:-) Quote
1969ghia Posted December 29, 2013 Report Posted December 29, 2013 Also, if it does turn out to be a faulty turbo the answer will depend on how deep your pockets are. Obviously new is going to be better than reconditioned but will also be a lot more expensive. I have heard good things about the company you mentioned. Mine would go in to limp mode when going above 3000rpm in 3rd gear only, up an incline ( or with extra load on the engine ). Other than that it was good. As bigdave has said, do a search first. Could be a split vacuum hose, faulty MAF etc. If the car has been driven carefully, could well be the turbo vanes getting stuck. They need a good blast every now and again.....( Especially after my wife has been driving it! ) Quote
