Thanks Jakey247,

I have the untit shown on your image, Is there a big diference between the Navigation unit and the Version 2 unit that you have the manual for ?

Do you know if the multimedia units are avalavle to retro fit ?

Thank-you for posting the reply, I am getting much closer to being HAPPY

Stagowner the manual you want is ford Publication order code: CG3329. I can photocopy it for you if you send me a large self addressed stamped envelope.

the difference between the two sytems is that we both have the full colour 5" screen type made by Blaupunkt, on which you can only use the CD slot for navigation CR-ROMs.

On the system 2 it has a much smaller screen, and has a digital surround processor, also allows you to use single CD slot to play normal CD's. This unit is made by visteon, and is not as easy to configure with the rear set multimedia pack.

The Ford (visteon made) rear headrest multimedia pack is available as a kit NOT CHEAP mind, and can be retro fitted. There is always a slim possibility that you may get one from a salvage car. According to inside sources less than10% of UK Galaxy sales have the rear seat pack, so of the 10,000 or so sold in the UK last year there are around 1000 with the system. By the law of averages so poor soul will have had a crash or total loss?

having both the DVD/multimedia pack and navigation unit myself I find they are great toys! particularly when negotiated into the deal basically for FREE.

Jakey247,

You are not only a star, but obviously a good negotiator.

I have just bought my first Galaxy tdi, (2002) it has every option fitted except the rear entertainment system. ( I suppose the original purchaser preferred the mutiplayer CD to drown out the noise of the kids in the back !

I would like to take you up on the offer of the photocopy, could you send me your address via email - nick.woodruff@btinternet.com

I also like how you have run used the aux input to display the DVD on the Radio unit, - That was my next question

Is the Radio unit easy to remove ? and are the aux inputs std 2.5mm phone connection ?

Thanks

Nick

I would also like very much to know how to make the Sat Nav screen display the Multimedia images.

Both Sat Nav and Multi Media were (I believe - I bought the car second hand) factory fitted so I assume they are already connected as necessary, but maybe not as I can't make a picture appear on the Sat Nav screen.

The car is from November 2001 and the Sat Nav appears to be the "type 1" system shown in the pictures above.

BTW - how much does a new Sat Nav CD cost?

Thanks

Feanor, in answering you question the units are connected but not menat to work together as I have shown (basically cause its illegal to view whilst driving in the UK - well at least i think it is?)

Anyway its very simple to do but you need an adaptor, I'll post some pictures later to show you what it looks like and how to do it. the adaptor ius a little expensive at around

On the question about removing the navigation (MFD) unit, you need the special keys. A set of 4 can be bought from a VW dealer for about a fiver, also I have seen them in Halfords. They slot into each corner as shown below and allow the unit to slide out easily.

Once you have the MFD aux imput adaptor (see other posts) you obviously need to plug it in at the rear, but once done you alter the settings as follows;

1) Push audio button and then select settings

Posted

Once in the settings mode, select AUX function and then you can tab between; Audio only, video only and combined audio/video. - provided you have a signal coming in on the phono ports of the adaptor - hey presto it will appear, either with or without sound depending on the aux mode you have selected.

I hope that answers all today's questions! Good luck to all and if anyone needs any more help please ask!

Thanks for the feedback re the video - I'll leave that for now as it is not a priority.

However I do have another problem which you may be able to help with. My car has the Ford Sat Nav (which looks identical to your picture - does this mean it is the same model?) and a CD changer which was added by the previous owner after sale. It is an Alpine CHM S620 6 CD changer unit.

My problem is that when I press the CD changer button (whilst listening to radio or looking at a map) on the Sat Nav system all it does is change the contrast on the display (as happens when the headlights are turned on). It does not switch to CD playback. Does this sound right?

The only way I can initiate CD playback is to press the Audio button to bring up the page which you posted yesterday at 9.43 and select CD. I should then be able to select which CD I want to play. Sometimes I can, but usually, even if the CD was playing Ok earlier, when I return to this screen each of the 6 CD trays is shown as empty. Therefore I cannot play my CD. The only way I have found to fix this is to eject the CD cartridge and replace it. It then seems to work Ok until I again for a short while. I've just tried again now and this time the CD played Ok and the trays remained "occupied" whilst I flipped between radio, Navigation, CD and so on, but then the playback stopped and I could not restart it or select another track or tray, even by turning the Sat Nav off and on.

Does this sound like a wiring problem or a fault with the CD changer?

Posted

Feanor, without knowing how the previous owner connected it up, its possible that its a wiring fault? however similarly it could be a changer problem.

As for selecting CD from the menu, thats normal I have to do that, but once in CD mode it should stay there until you swap it back to navigation or radio?

try taking a look behind the panel on the RH side where the jack is to see what make the adaptor is? and what the connections look like???

Thanks again. I'm not too good at DIY, and don't have the tools to remove the panel. I think I will trust my local Ford dealer to fix this for me.

You say you also need to use the menu to select CD? So what is the CD changer button for? I note it does have 2 icons for sun and moon, presumably day and night, so this suggests it should switch the lighting from day to night settings (which it does) but this begs the question why is it also described as the CD changer button? Any ideas? I don't have the manual yet - perhaps it says in there.

Hi Jakey 247

I have the same unit shown on your image. I have the same DVD/multimedia pack with navigation and console which looks the same as well. Here are some pictures please let me know if they are the same ones which you have.
