Guest OXO2 PUB Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I'm getting pretty fed up with the brake fade on my Alhambra I use her alot for carrying stock to my pub and so she s carrying alot of weight most of the time (this is when I notice the brake fade the most) I nearlly had an accident when I had to stop quickly last week on a run from the brewery. I've had a good luck around the internet and at my local boy racer shops and I cant seem to find any performance discs for the Bamma, Galaxy or Sharan. Am I looking in the wrong places or are there none available? I've also had a look at sourcing some from Audi A4's and A6's with no joy, closest was 4mm out in the hub measurement. help please Quote
johnb80 Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I had a similar situation on another vehicle I had, changing the PADS to better quality ones made a dramatic improvement. Are you using good quality pads ? Regards - JB Quote
Guest nimrod Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 er you what? you cant find any uprated discs for the Bammer! your not looking on the correct site for the info or the how to it! you even pointed me in the direction of the site! <_< DIY BAMMER BRAKE UPGRADE! Quote
MrT Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Do these upgrades affect the ABS and electronic stability system, especially if you only do the front? Quote
Guest nimrod Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 If you go as far as fitting four pots callipers and bigger disc's then I would hazard a guess and say yes as you have now doubled/tripled the efficiency of the physical braking system and no recalibrated the electronics to match! if you go as far as only fitting a set of uprated pads or drilled disc's but kept to the OE sizes and specification then no Quote
Guest OXO2 PUB Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 er you what? :o you cant find any uprated discs for the Bammer! your not looking on the correct site for the info or the how to it! you even pointed me in the direction of the site! :D DIY BAMMER BRAKE UPGRADE! I'm from the other site, I dont use cupra.net as I dont want to upset the applecart like has happened in the past  Ta for the Info Quote
Guest nimrod Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 oops :o I thought that was the site you were on about! never mind though! still a good site with an Alhambra section  PS. the FK kits fitted :D the fronts really low! :D the tyres nearly up in the arch and there's still more to go on the adjusters 60/75mm so it could go lower yet :D the rears nearly maxed out only another 10 mm to go on the adjuster but theres still plenty of height for sag due to a load in the boot, the rides ok, well I think it is but what the MRS thinks is another story :D I may jack it up 30/40mm all round and soften the ride a touch to keep her happy :D 6 Quote

Ivor_E_Tower Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 That's no good - we need to see the whole side so we can tell if the car's attitude looks OK (nose up/down; slope of sills wrt ground etc) - and I'm getting the cake ready to celebrate when you join the exclusive "1000+" club  Quote
iainkirk Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 nimrod, that looks like a speed-bump catcher, if ever I saw one! By the way, what's with the numbers on your posts ??? Quote
