marinabrid Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 Hi alli have the stiff passenger electric window had to free it off by pulling on it as the wife pressed the button, got it free but it seems stiff, is it possible to remove the door card and oil the mechanism without taking it all apart can you reach the parts that move in there thanks Quote
seatkid Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 (edited) My front windows were a bit stiff, I used silicone spray on the window felt runners and it was a lot better. No need to remove door cards. On the other hand, if it jammed completely and if there was any grinding or unusual noises then that would indicate the wire is getting fouled around the main pulley. In that case, a strip down is required, you might rescue it before its damaged too much - check the motor mounting screws are tight, cos (on the fabia at least) it also allows the pulley to flop about. The pulleys etc are all nylon and don't require lubrication. Hope that helps. Edited December 2, 2013 by seatkid Quote

gregers Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 if it stops or makes strange noises, then stop pressing the button or you could cause the cable spool to over run and then it strips the thread,as this is plastic it fubared if this happens. Quote
billywizzo Posted December 3, 2013 Report Posted December 3, 2013 If it making grinding noises then i think you will need to replace the mechanism. It is quite straight forward once you get the door trim off.I bought the whole mechanism minus the motor which i swapped over. I also replaced the door trim clips as i pulled the trim off but it should slide up when loose.Sorry i cannot remember where i got it from but i do remember it was not that expensive at the time.
