ric220 Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 Hi all. Sorry to be asking non-galaxy questions but there Quote
viperclive Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 With regards to starter motor, i've had the same problem and always thought it was down to sticky bendix, even replaced starter but how wrong was I, just had new clutch fitted and it was pointed out that a switch/relay attatched to ignition switch was on way out, causing starter run on, switch cost Quote
chromedome Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 The temperature gauge not working, especially this time of year, could be the auxiliary heater not working. The VW engine is very efficient and does not generate enough heat to warm itself up so an auxiliary heater is used to assist this. While standing outside, listen under the front passenger seat for what sounds like a jet engine. No sound no heater. Lots and lots of info on the forum about this. Quote
ric220 Posted November 27, 2013 Author Report Posted November 27, 2013 Thanks Chromedome. The temp gauge has been dodgy since I got the car in July and didn't work most of the time while on hols in 80+ degrees France in Aug. I thought that the sensor was a common problem and therefore the 1st thing to rule out? Cheers. Quote
bigdave982 Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 1.8t is petrol? So no aux heater? Quote
ric220 Posted November 27, 2013 Author Report Posted November 27, 2013 Yes I wondered that too. It's the vw petrol turbo. Quote
