orinoco69 Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 do i need to fit a new timing belt when i get waterpump changed (as this is what my mechanic has said) many thanks in advance. Quote
chromedome Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 General opinion is that the timing belt, pulleys and water pump should all be done at the same time. This is because it is a big job to gain access to any one item so therefore change all. Quote
seatkid Posted November 21, 2013 Report Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) On the Mk2 diesels the water pump is driven by the timing belt. Makes sense to change it as it has to come off. Edited November 21, 2013 by seatkid Quote

seatkid Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 Recommended cam belt interval is 40,000 miles / 4 years on mk 2 diesels iirc anyway Quote
