Anyone know the OE part no for the steering wheel air bag squib ring for the MK1 2.3 ?

I've got chance of one that's off a MK3 with an OE no of 6G9T-14A664-BC. Will it fit?

Cheers seatkid it's a job I'm not looking forward to doing, going to have a look at the ring first before buying, you never know it may be fixable!

Just changed mine couple of months ago, part no was 95vw 14a664 AA also had 7m0 959 653 on it and that's from a 2.3petrol mk1 2000 model.

Hope this is some help.

I'm sure you know but just remember to disconnect the battery first just in case it decides to reconnect while being removed and sets of airbag.

I shouldn't think a MK3 will fit as I believe Ford made those and the MK1/2 are made by VW

I saw the clip that someone put on here where the guy sat on one and it went off!! Impressive!!

if you want to test one before ripping your car to bits its possible to connect the whole assembly together off of the column - the first one i got and tried didn't work despite being "tested" so have subsequently tried with a new one to prove where the fault lies. TBH given the amount of effort required to change it i didn't think it was worth messing about with an old one only to risk it going again later! Still got to get round to doing mine though.

Cheers for that Brian, mot not till march so will stare at the red light till after Christmas, unless I find one before then! Off to staveley next week and there's a good scrapyard there called Deatons where your allowed to check out the motors, also much cheaper than Hampshire.
