Only just got back to trying to fix car as I have been busy and have another car I can use.

This is the wifes car and she needs it for her mum who is disabled.

I have two keys and both won't start the car. It's Mk1 2000, 1.9 turbo diesel.

It runs okay when towed but will not start when turned over with the starter motor even though the battery is very healthy. Sometimes it goes into limp mode, but I don't think thats the problem as its only now and again.

I wondered if there was a relay that was not opperating properly. Could it be one of the sensors not working correctly? There is a fuel cut off I read for crashes etc, but I assume it would not run at all if it cut off the fuel supply.

It has been raining and now Iv'e got to go out, so will try and fix it Sunday (if dry).

I have a Haynes manual but its poorly laid out and poorly illustrated. Like most manuals it uses ititials for items with no terminolgy explained. Although I'm not an electrical dunce I find it difficult to follow their circuit diagrams as they can't use laymen terminolgy.

Any ideas are very welcome. Lionel
