Guest PaulS Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 I have an s-reg 110 TDI Galaxy. We had the MAF replaced (under warranty-thankfully) approx 10k (1 year) ago. Everything running fine except we do seem to go through bulbs. Just recently though if I hit a bit of a uphill slope and put my foot down the engine misses for a second. Not always but happening more. Also its starting to be a bit of a bu**er to start in the morning. Been in the garage (non-dealer) and he is a bit stumped. Any ideas? Quote
Guest spanner137 Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 my w reg sharan is exactly the same but only with full load IE 4 passengers, replaced everything, in last 10K Engine, turbo but still the same, even had brand new no 3 injector with sensor, any thoughts forum Quote
Guest nimrod Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 This may not be of any help to you guys but I was just reading an article about bad starting and running on VW Golf 110 TDI's the thing that caught my eye was the fact that the problem is a power relay for the ECU! RELAY 109 of which the Galaxy has one of! this relay when it plays up can apparently cause loss of power, excess smokeing and bad starting! VW have overcome the problem by releasing an uprated relay! the new relay is light grey in colour to signify thats it uprated! the relays failure does not show up any codes so will not be so apparent in its failure orto be the cause of any problems! not sure if this is of any use to you but it may be worth a try and its fairly cheap! PS. the article also noted that cheap tuning boxes! can cause the demise of this relay! something to with the extra load they place on it! Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Does the 110 have drive-by-wire? Could be duff windings on the throttle pot, mentioned in another recent thread. Seems more likely to be a fuel delivery problem though. Quote
Guest Davtona Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 If it is suspect throttle pot, it will most likely miss at the same throttle pedal position every time, but like Ivor E Tower I would ask if it'a fly by wire engine, as it's more likely to be poor atomisation of fuel - an injector fault, also possible is a faulty lift pump which would explain your poor starting. (fuel running back to tank overnight) Quote
