Barkster Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 Hi. I have got a brand new (63 reg) Galaxy 2.2Tdci Powershift and the fuel consumption is just dreadful. I was down to 32.2 mpg on average. It has been back to a main dealer who can find no fault. I currently have a tuning box fitted from www.tdi-tuning.co.uk in Chelmsford but after initial high hopes, I am now only getting 33 ! I live in the country, so don't do much motorway driving but my average of 32 did include quite a few decent length motorway journeys. But it's not like I live in the city either. I just fail to understand how my previous Galaxy averaged 42 and now I have a 10% bigger engine (and an auto) that the fuel consumption could drop by 25% !! Has anyone else experienced this, or was I just stupid to buy the 2.2 in the first place ? I have friends with 2.2 Tdci Honda's who are getting 40's and 50's ! It seems madness really Any help would be appreciated. Barkster. Quote
Scorpiorefugee Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 (edited) Hi Barkster, I have a 12 reg Titanium 2.0L manual and that is also giving higher fuel consumption than either of my MKI or MKII which makes the emission ratings look a bit suspect. One or two points from me but I am sure you will get more feedback later. I can get 42mpg with great care but anything above 70 makes it plummet That's getting on for a 20% reduction on the earlier models. Tie that with the auto, larger engine and the fact that everything is still a bit tight and you may be able to see a bit of improvement. I also find that the set up of throttle and early turbo action can make economical driving in traffic very difficult. I shall watch to see how this develops. Edited October 15, 2013 by gregers Quote

Scorpiorefugee Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 Blimey (Thats old talk for Bl00dy hell) Gregers, Do you both spend all day driving around just to generate enough in taxes so that us decrepit pensioners can live in the style that we have to adjust to? Quote
