My Galaxy (W reg 1.9 TDi) failed its MOT yesterday, because the ABS Warning Lamp in the dashboard did not illuminate when the ignition was turned on. Im certain the all is well with the ABS, as I only had cause to use it 2 or 3 days ago. Obviously I cant ever remember seeing the Warning light (because its not the first thing you look for is it).

Any ideas how I fix this one? I have had the dashboard out, and can see a series of bulbs, but there doesnt seem to be one specific to the ABS warning.

Thanks

Do a search on previous posts as I seem to remember someone mentioning that it could be either a wire not reconnected to the brake pads properly or a reset that should be done when changing the pads.

Sorry about the MOT failure, very harsh I feel but as a key component of the cars safety systems then you can see why they failed it.

the light should come on when the ignition is first turned on then go out when it has done its self test to see if it is operating you could try and see if the abs actually works on some gravel etc if it works it surely can only be a bulb failure if it don't then time to start checking fuse's the abs system is not connected to the brake pads at all there is a sensor in each hub that detects the wheel speed and if it senses that one is less that the others it signals the abs ecu to release brake presure in that brake line that is why the pedal pulses under your foot when it is operational

ABS light is shown as an LED on the TIS and so is unlikely to be faulty. Check the fuses F9,F10,F3,F20 (if its a pre 2000 facelift model) there maybe other fuses to check...
