Hc level, running rough suggests ignition problem. Most likely a coilpak failure - quite common.

I would agree with seafood, just changed one of mine after not using car for two days when starting her up sounded as rough as hell until she warmed up, quick coil pack change and now sounds sweet, I also use plugs that kick out three Sparks each beat, much more efficient, NGK BKUR5ET, £2.75EA from ebay.

I got two coil packs from local scrappy and still the same :( off to try a air flow meter tomorrow I think Edited by rob2012

airflow meter is not going to cause a misfire;  it measures how much air/temperature of air going through it.

the coil pack supplies a high voltage spark to the plug leads, it travels to the spark plugs and ignites the mixture.

if 2 x scrapyard coils make no difference, its pointing to the plug leads or the spark plugs being the cause

checked for any error codes? Assuming that you have the vehicle in your signature an obd reader should be able to show if anything is definitely suspect which would be a good place to start looking at. Could be a dodgy petrol injector as another possibility if its dripping when it should be closed.

What plugs have you fitted? Brand & Type?

I had a problem with leads that supply coils, the insulation had cracked up and I had to replace them and put extra insulation on them, also look at state of insulation on wires in box above injectors as mine was a mess

took it to a mate at a garage and he said its a split pipe somewhere and that the engine isn't missing its just not getting the right mix of air n fuel but I cant find any split or cracked pipes how many pipes are there as I am not sure if I have checked all of them<br />

Theres a vacuum pipe that has a tendancy to split that goes onto the brake servo - take the bulkhead panel out and have a look at the ends (mine had split and could be heard sucking but no noticeable difference to the brakes with that being the case).

Its a rigid pipe your looking for, once you find that bit you should be able to follow it back.

I've also heard other people reporting champion plugs to be somewhat lacking in their quality control so it may be worth considering swapping them out for NGK ones (they are just a badge now brought by some Chinese manufacturer I gather and aren't upto the standards of what they used to be)
