My ac has crapped out again the Suction line on the compressor sheared at the bend , I am thinking of joining the pepework using flared pipe fittings. I was hoping to use JIC fittings , does anyone know where I might get a flaring kit that flares to 37 degrees as opposed to the normal 45 degrees?

If I can connect the pipework I shall save myself 200 pounds .

Why did it shear? if its due to the stress of the engine movement on this section of pipe! would a joint last?

when the pipe on mine sheared it was due to the engines lower mount bolt breaking!allow the engine to rock back an forth to much!

my AC guy did suggest the possability of a repair such as your suggesting but it was not possible due the room needed to get the joint made, so I bit the bullet and paided out for a new pipe

Yes the pipe did shear due to engine movement , I had lent it to my daughter and I came back to find I had a new catalyst and new Engine mount . poor wee thing was to scared to tell me at first paid out 350 pounds to get it repaired.

So once I get the pipe fixed I should be able to get it gassed up and stop sweltering.

If an engine mount goes (and it seems to be a common occurance on the Ford petrol models) and it causes so much damage, CAT, A/C then shouldn't you make complaint to Ford about negligent design?
