Airbag Light Code 00588

Hi, had the airbag light come on about 6 months ago and code 00588 drivers airbag was logged.

Finally got a replacement clock spring and drivers airbag (both known good units) and swapped them over, but light still stays on! :(

 

Does anyone know where the airbag module is located?? Or any other checks that can be done?

Look in the center of the vehicle on the floor behind kick panels.

Airbag light needs to be reset via diagnostics or VCDS.

Thanks Seatkid! Just when out and reset it on code reader and the lights out :)

I thought as I've had the battery off for an hour it would have cleared the code.

Its not reliant on the battery to keep the error logged. Sort of makes sense if you think any sort of dodgy connection needs to be flagged up for investigation - else when it comes round for mot etc if its come on a couple of times it wouldn't be seen and hence wouldn't get fixed most of the time.
