peterlemer Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 What is the current drain when the car is switched off, and is it greater/less/the same when locked? pete Quote
GaryM Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 Don't know but it is high. Can't leave my motor for to many days until the battery is flat. What is intresting is that a while back I deceided to upgrade a lot of the minor bulbs to LED and found that they stayed on all the time, albeit at limited brightness. So this has got to be one contributing factor. Quote
cugsy Posted September 15, 2013 Report Posted September 15, 2013 The MKII I got is driving me mad with battery issues. Some mornings after going nowhere for days it starts. But after a 60 mile run out yesterday it now won't start - its on the charger. It got to the point where I was going out in the dark to see if any of the interior lights were on. I checked the battery when the engine was running and got 13.8V. Maybe the battery is shagged? Mo' money! Quote
GaryM Posted September 15, 2013 Report Posted September 15, 2013 I previously had a MKII and that broke down on the Motorway with a flat battery. I eventually chased the fault to a black fuse box to the front passenger side of the engine bay. This had all melted which meant that the charge was not getting back to the battery... http://www.morban.co.uk/MiscImages/BurntFuseBox.JPG Quote
cugsy Posted September 15, 2013 Report Posted September 15, 2013 Cheers Gary - I'll have a peek later. Quote
cugsy Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Fuses are all fine and clean. I tried to start it this morning and no joy. When I did some ringing around and described the battery in the car it was about 1/2 the size it should be. Cue £72 for a 650 cca battery. Mo money.. Quote
