javedsaleem Posted September 7, 2013 Report Posted September 7, 2013 I purchased a Car in mid-May 2013 for £4050 from a Garage- it came with a 3 month warranty - £150 was paid with credit card and £3900 by cash. It is a 2004 Ford Galaxy. Within 2 weeks, it had broken down, so I took it back to the Garage where I purchased it from - they did a minor repair job, and it seemed ok.... until it broke down a week later.... when I took it back, they said that the previous time, an 'actuator was sticking, due to rust', so they had just freed it' - they have done no-further work on the car, I have done my own research and have found out that the 'actuator' is in fact, integral part of the Turbo system for the car - it cannot be repaired if it rusts away and the whole turbo system must be replaced, at a cost of almost £1000 I beleive they purchased from an Auction and sold on, knowing full well that it had a problem. It goes into Limp Mode - I had the code read and it was:-17964P1556Charge Pressure Control - Negative Deviation I now need to get I need a full diagnosis of engine, plus inspection of Car and Engineers Report - Anyoneknow any specialist or good garage's in Peterborough that can help ? A few other interesting facts are:-when we where purchasing the car, the Salesman kept saying that he had to go and was rushing us to buy When we decided to purchase the vehicle, he would not show us the Service History or V5 document - he only showed us Service History and the MOT paper, after we had paid. Then we received a new V5 document from the DVLA, we discovered that it had 6 previous owners. On the service history, he said it was fully serviced, as that how it was advertised. My subsequent investigations have realised that the service history is fake, as the Garages on the service history say that they have never serviced this vehicle. Other things show that it does not match up to its description as listed in the advert. Also, the 3 month warranty - no paperwork was ever supplied for this, even though it was requested. I believe I have a strong case against the Garage - what do you think ? what parts of law, can I use to substantiate my case ?? Any help appreciated Thanks Quote

I don't know why you allowed yourself to be rushed into this purchase - buyer beware! However, since you're now stuck with the problem, there are possibly several laws covering the invalid description:Sale of goods Act 1979maybe Unfair Trading regulations 2008 Suggest you contact trading standards or citizens advice, possibly a solicitor. Keep a note of everytning - good luck Quote
