Jaysm1 Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Hi Thanks to his forum my galaxy has been saved from the scrappy a few times now lol.But she has failed the mot, high co2 on the emissions test (2.45%). I've search through the forum and found that possible the secondary air pump could be at fault, I was wondering how to test the pump and can it be repaired or a new one? 2.3 mk1 2000 (w reg) Quote
BrianH Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 It would be a start to see if its logging any errors via the diagnostics - the socket is under the ashtray and a normal obd reader will read them on the ford engined ones. If its failing i'd expect to seeHave you tried anything else though - its high CO i'd suspect you mean rather than co2 which may be indicating a problem with the airflow (air filter been changed recently?) The SAI system as far as i can understand it is to do with warming up the cat on startup. mines logged errors for as long as i've had the car but still goes through on emissions ok. any of the following would suggest the secondary air system has a fault if you manage to get a fault code reader connected P1411 Secondary Air is Not being divertedP1413 Secondary Air Injection System Monitor Circuit Low VoltageP1414 Secondary Air Injection System Monitor Circuit High VoltageP1442 Secondary Air Injection System Monitor Circuit High Voltage Quote
Jaysm1 Posted August 29, 2013 Author Report Posted August 29, 2013 Yeah sorry I mean CO, I'll get the it plugged in tomorrow. Just look at my Haynes manual and had a quick look under the bonnet and my galaxy doesn't have a secondary air pump so it rules out that! Yeah it's had a new air/ oil/ fuel filters, oil change and new plugs a week before. Car runs fine and flys along Quote
BrianH Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Your probabbly looking at a new cat then if all else appears to be in order. Quote
Jaysm1 Posted September 1, 2013 Author Report Posted September 1, 2013 Had no codes stored. Think I'm going to try a new cat and lambda sensor, hopefully that will cure it. Quote
