valentinesbabe Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 Hi allI've recently had an exacerbation of a problem with my 2001 2.3 Petrol Galaxy. It has always had the intermittent starting problem since new and between the non-starting, the dodgy aircon and the wipers seizing in it's first few years it spent as much time at the local dealers trying to find out the problem as it did out on the road! However, I've sorted the wiper linkages myself, I've stopped even thinking about the aircon and I'd got used to the starting problem....until I had to be rescued by Green Flag last week as it simply wouldn't start at all even after leaving it for a few hours. I've checked on here and it looks like it could be a relay30 problem, but when I got home I found it starts with the spare key no problem. My spare key is just a basic key with no remote locking buttons. When the Green Flag man came out to rescue me as part of his fault-finding he took the key apart but dropped the innards and as it was dark I don't know if he found it all and I have no idea what the chip would look like so can anyone provide a picture? It may still be the relay 30 issue as well but I'd like to know if the key is as it should be to save any problems later on. Thanks in anticipation :-) Quote
sparky Paul Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 (edited) See this thread for images of the chip, and it's location in the key - kindly posted by seatkid. Sounds like he lost the chip. It's a tiny thing, but if you know where it fell out, it's worth getting on the old hands n' knees. Edited August 21, 2013 by sparky Paul Quote
valentinesbabe Posted August 21, 2013 Author Report Posted August 21, 2013 Thanks PaulDefinitely looks like it is missing. Problem is that the car was in Corby when I was being rescued and I'm in Lincoln :-( My friend is going to have a look before she goes to work in the morning! Fingers crossed x Quote
