Bigjeeze Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 I need to replace my locking wheel nut key - it is an original VW one with number 52 - No one seems to do these nay more = Does anyone have one I could buy? Quote
a18nkd Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 Probably best just to get the old ones off (old socket hammered over the top) and put new ones on Quote
Bigjeeze Posted August 17, 2013 Author Report Posted August 17, 2013 Not that simple - it's an internal spline you can't hammer a socket onto it. I have managed to get one off using a removal socket but then I can't get the socket off again., Quote
seatkid Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 The end recently fell out of one of my locking bolts to reveal a multispline (AZN?) bolt underneath. I put it back and tapped it with a hammer to hold it in. Have you tried VW/SEAT dealers? Someone once said they were made by McGard - maybe an email to them would help Does it look like thi ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/VW-AUDI-WHEEL-LOCK-KEY-52-WITH-SEVEN-SQUARE-SPLINES-/261056883595 Quote
a18nkd Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 ahh got you now sorry socket won't work let us know if you find a way of getting them off ! Quote
sparky Paul Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 (edited) This won't help you, but in case anyone is interested the McGard keys are available from the manufacturer's German website. You have to supply the ID and date code from the card that came with the car documentation originally, pay your euros and they post a replacement key to you, all very quick and efficient. I bought one after finding the bolts on one wheel had wound up tight, not quite sure how they ended up so tight but the original key snapped... and so did the replacement. The old multi-point socket trick sorted it out, and I replaced the whole lot with standard bolts so it wouldn't happen again... If I'd had a puncture on that wheel whilst out, I would have been knackered. Edited August 18, 2013 by sparky Paul Quote

Bigjeeze Posted August 19, 2013 Author Report Posted August 19, 2013 I have e mailed Mcgard asking if they can help. Any advice as to where to look for these numbers? I have all of the original docs for the car.? Quote
sparky Paul Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 My details were on a white card in the ziplock packet with the locking key. Have you emailed the US site or the EU one I linked to above? They have an online ordering system and the keys are posted out from Germany. Quote
Bigjeeze Posted August 19, 2013 Author Report Posted August 19, 2013 Hi Sparky Yes I emailed the german site Quote
