Hard Metallic Rattle Over Bumps

Hi,

 

I put a post on here regarding a clunking sound, however, I would like to revise my description as I've now investigated all the obvious sources;

• Drop links
• Engine roll restrictor 
• ARB bushes

However, I had another look and feel with it on the ramps and noticed some rotation play on the intermediate shaft spline.  Could this be the source of my 'rattle' as I go over bumps?  I also noticed the calliper assembly would make a noise if I gave it a good thump.

 

Anyone experienced these symptoms?

I lost the spring clips that stop the front brake pads from rattling - that seems to be the source of noise - Just to test the theory try braking gently as you go over a bump and see if the noise disappears.  I went to get new clips but at £16.00 each from Ford I'll just ignore the noise!!

try a scrappy for the springs probably £1 each

Top marks fellas, checked the O/S and no spring.

 

Anyone scrapping a mk2?
