adamv211 Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 (1998 vw sharan 1.9 td auto)only had it a week lol After the bulb in the gearbox selector failed i replaced it with a 12v led in order to save £65 + the vat for a new unit and bulb as the bulb is soldered in place but there is no illumination so my question in 2 fold what is the voltage on that switch ? as if i have put a too high voltage led on it wont workis there a fuse for that part cause will check that too to see if that is the issue thanks in advance adam Quote
sparky Paul Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) Not sure of the voltage, but would presume 12v. LEDs are polarised, so you need to make sure the LED is connected the right way round. Edited August 7, 2013 by sparky Paul Quote
adamv211 Posted August 7, 2013 Author Report Posted August 7, 2013 will check on that as have a spare led not wired in yet it worked when tested on battery will see if it lights up when connected directly to the power input if not then i need to fault find why there is no power to the switches Quote
adamv211 Posted August 8, 2013 Author Report Posted August 8, 2013 after finding out one of the soldered in wires had a break in it they were both removed and soldered the led wires in and all is working well thank you to sparky paul for the reply Quote
