ric220 Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Hi all. This weekend I intend to attack the broken wires where they enter the boot to remedy the lack of central brake light. Assuming the wires have shorted out, does this mean that the bulbs will have blown (or anything else for that matter – relays?)? I’m just concerned that I won’t know whether I’ve fixed the problem if I solve the wiring but the light still don’t work! Hope you can help. Quote
BigDog Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 You may need to change a fuse but beyond that nothing else should have been damaged. I assume you've read the FAQ. All the best, Matt Quote
daddyfixit Posted July 25, 2013 Report Posted July 25, 2013 do not solder the ends of the broken wires together !!! instead extend them by putting a new piece of ( more flexible ) cable in and solder it to both broken ends--this gives the cable a bit more "give" before it snaps again. I use heatshrink tubing on every solder repair instead of farting about with insulation tape. Quote
