wallis2847 Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 Hi all this is my first post on here and I hope there is someone that can help me with my issue. I recently purchased a 2001 galaxy 115 bhp tdi the problem is that when you put your foot down in all gears the turbo does not seem to kick in until about 2700-3000 rpm but when it does it goes like stink. So I do not think there is a problem with turbo but rather something that is telling it to kick in to late.but I am stumped and there seems to be no clear answer to my persific problem. Other than this annoying niggle the car runs sweet as a nut. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated thanks simon Quote
a18nkd Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 I could be wrong someone can correct me on this but maybe the actuator might need adjusted to kick in earlier I don't know this for certain as I don't know when the turbo should kick in my 90bhp gal the turbo kicks in around the 2250rpm to 2500rpmĀ mark Quote
seatkid Posted July 13, 2013 Report Posted July 13, 2013 Possibly a MAF sensor problem - has it been changed recently - you need to check it has the right type fitted. Quote
wallis2847 Posted July 13, 2013 Author Report Posted July 13, 2013 Thanks for the help at what rpm should I be feeling boost and I am pritty sure the maf has already been done. Quote
lewie Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 Have you tried the MAP (mass air pressure ) sensor ? I had a problem with under boost and it turned out to be the MAP not the MAF Quote
wallis2847 Posted July 17, 2013 Author Report Posted July 17, 2013 Not quite sure what you mean by map sensor but I was going up a hill today in 4th and the turbo just stopped producing boost got to a set of lights switched engine off and back on and turbo came back on . I got it home and put it on the vag-com which by the way is an amazing must have piece of kit and it diagnosed p1556. This I am told is either turbo actuator problem or turbo boost controller solenoid (n75 solenoid). My question now is can a clogged egr valve also cause all my symptoms. Quote
a18nkd Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 MAPĀ (mass air pressure) it is found in the ECU on the mk 1 galaxy's my tube that led to the map was a little loose on one end and this lead to the car running ok but when it was under pressure i.e up a hill or overtaking it would go into limp mode (felt like the turbo wasn't on the car) really slow and no power I had a car full and went to overtake a wagon when it went into limp mode and going up a hill I had to pull back in then pull over turn the ignition off back on then was fine again Quote
