right guys, after a bit of help, i have recently changed the suspension on our ford galaxy, the thing is its now clunking from the front, poss the o/side????

the springs came from my 2001 alhambra as i thought the galaxy was too soft, ive fitted brand new monroe shocks, new top mounts and bearings, new drop links and anti roll bar bushes and its still clunking and im at a loss to what it could be,ive had it up on ramps and all seems tight under there!!!

the only thing i havnt changed is the anti roll bar itself as i know the alhambra sat lower could it be possible the roll bar on the galaxy cant cope????

any ideas guys????

Try prising your rear bush on the wishbone, if the rubber has parted the wishbone rattles up and down knocking on the chassis.

i thought that tbf,and the weekend i did change the bottom arms as 1 of them had almost split right across, but its still doing it,ive read that theres a bottom engine mount that can fail, but would make the same noise as a suspension clunk as that what it sounds like,my car is a 2.3 petrol....

I have 2.3 ghia X petrol, I replaced every item on suspension (apart from roll bar) and still had clunks, it turned out to be play on struts, I could get a bic Biro under top cap, so I made two thick rubber washers/spacers and put them under the caps, it's a pleasure to drive now no knocking going over sleeping policemen, before the complete suspension unit was bouncing because of the play at the top of struts.

the struts are brand new tho,i know there meant to be floating as thats the way they designed as when its on its wheels there bout 3/8" play on the top but thats how they meant to be,ive tried everythin i can think of and its got me baffled!!
