viperclive Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 Try prising your rear bush on the wishbone, if the rubber has parted the wishbone rattles up and down knocking on the chassis. Quote
niall1001 Posted June 11, 2013 Author Report Posted June 11, 2013 i thought that tbf,and the weekend i did change the bottom arms as 1 of them had almost split right across, but its still doing it,ive read that theres a bottom engine mount that can fail, but would make the same noise as a suspension clunk as that what it sounds like,my car is a 2.3 petrol.... viperclive Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 I have 2.3 ghia X petrol, I replaced every item on suspension (apart from roll bar) and still had clunks, it turned out to be play on struts, I could get a bic Biro under top cap, so I made two thick rubber washers/spacers and put them under the caps, it's a pleasure to drive now no knocking going over sleeping policemen, before the complete suspension unit was bouncing because of the play at the top of struts. niall1001 Posted June 11, 2013 Author Report Posted June 11, 2013 the struts are brand new tho,i know there meant to be floating as thats the way they designed as when its on its wheels there bout 3/8" play on the top but thats how they meant to be,ive tried everythin i can think of and its got me baffled!!
