bonkers Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 Hi I have had my Ford Galaxy TDi ghia for a couple of months and it has a few niggles that need sorting out but nothing that can`t wait. But yesterday I dropped the drivers sidelight while trying to fit it through the hatch in the wheel arch.I got my toolbox out to remove the headlight and found nothing in there was going to help me.Took my over an hour to get it out. So what basic essential tools need to be in my toolbox to fix my TDi ghia ?Basic jobs like change pollen filter, not full engine builds I already have a WinXP laptop setup with a VAG cable, I have problems with win7 but its still the best £5.95 Ive spent on the car. Any help much appreciated Quote
SilverBeast Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 (i) Metric Socket Set.(ii) Torx Screwdrivers or a set with Torx bits (You need these in lots of places including for removing the headlights). For the headlight I also use the extensions from a 1/4" drive socket set to get at the screws near the bottom.(iii) Multimeter for all the electrical faults is really useful.(iv) Tool for unfastening the hose clips is really useful. Depending how much you are doing varies what you need. Some seatbelt mountings need a Spline Drive set (which looks like a Torx but isnt) Probably easier to post your problems and ask what tools you need for the task Quote
xavier Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 an extension bar long enough to reach the bolts on the undertray. Quote

BrianH Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 A few basics for repairing broken wires wouldn't be a bad idea - theres info on splicing new wires in the faq section on doing so. Soldering iron and cutters/wire strippers mainly. Quote
